The Regional Fair Trade Project Draws to a Close
March 2008
The regional fair trade project for Yorkshire and the Humber is due to close as a project on 31 March 2008.
The project has been made possible through funding from the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Centre of Excellence (see www.yhcoe.rcoe.gov.uk ).
The project has facilitated:
- the launch of a Fairtrade Town campaign in three towns in the region,
- the organisation of a national Fairtrade Towns conference in Rotherham in September 2007,
- the creation of resources and promotional items on fair trade for the region's community groups and local authorities to use,
- primary schools fair trade resource packs,
- and a regional framework contract for fair trade products for local authorities to use.
This website will remain live as an information source on fair trade procurement and the first steps in a Fairtrade Town campaign. You will still be able to download resources or borrow exhibition stands that have been created as part of the project.
If your local authority is based in the Yorkshire and Humber region and would like to participate in the regional framework contract for fair trade products please contact Stephen Priestley, Procurement Unit, Leeds City Council on telephone number 0113 24 76664 or by email stephen.priestley@leeds.gov.uk
